About the Florida Defense Lawyers Association

The Florida Defense Lawyers Association was formed in April 1967 to represent the interests of Lawyers in private practice whose practice was primarily the defense of civil matters.Over 1000 strong, FDLA now extends membership to Lawyers employed by public agencies and private corporations.

Its goals remain the same:to promote a level playing field in civil litigation and to foster our members' growth as professionals. We do this through our publications, quality CLE programs, networking and support of fellow members, and collegial and social membership meetings. Our interests span such diverse issues as law practice economics, legislative developments, influencing substantive law, developing professional referrals, sharing expert information, supporting members on statewide committees and elected offices . . . the list is long.

We are family-friendly, informal, and outgoing (as a rule!). Friendships formed through FDLA span decades, as we take pride in each other's professional and personal development. New members are warmly welcomed at all our events.

From big firms and small, urban areas and rural, we join FDLA based on our common practice issues and desire to add an extra dimension to our professional lives.
